The TRUMPF Laser Technology Center (TCA) Field Service Engineer (FSE) is a member of the Additive Manufacturing Technology Group. We support TRUMPF Customers in North America (CA, US, and MEX) who utilize our lasers in “non-standard” applications. Responsibilities and duties include: Inhouse Phone Support, traveling, installing, demonstrating, troubleshooting, and repairing Lasers & Systems and Teaching Laser Technology to customers & associates. 

Principle Duties & Responsibilities

Inhouse Service Support


  •        Support TRUMPF customers in North America as a part of the technical service group by providing inhouse support over the phone 50% of the time or as required.
  •        Provide on-call 24/7 telephone support as required, as a part of rotating on-call support.
  •        Support mission or tool scheduling utilizing SIS scheduling software.
  •        Other duties related to inhouse support as needed.
  •        Work independently to resolve technical problems and maintain good relationship to customers


Field Service 

  •        Participate in training lasting approximately 5 - 6 months, with on-going training on existing and new products for both TruPrint and TruMark withTruPrint being the focus
  •        Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair TRUMPF equipment with high quality in the field 
  •        Demonstration and education of lasers and systems to customers and associates 
  •        Complete basic retrofits, software installations and customer training
  •        Complete paperwork on time with high quality
  •        Trouble shoot and remedy complex issues
  •        Modification of machine application data
  •        Use relevant electrical measuring tools efficiently for trouble shooting
  •        Participate in continuous technical and other relevant training
  •        Demonstration and education of lasers and systems to customers and associates 
  •        Adhere to all company guidelines
  •        Any additional responsibilities as deemed necessary by management
  •        Must be located, or ability to relocate, within 45 minutes of a major International Airport


  •        50% travel required, both internationally and domestically or as necessary to complete missions
  •        Perform extensive travel as needed, including but not limited to Monday through Friday 
  •        Some weekend and overnight work required, roughly 10-15 weekends a year
  •        Must maintain valid Driver’s License 
  •        Ability to obtain Passport

Physical Requirement

  •        Normal amount of sitting and standing, average mobility to move around an office, and ability to conduct normal amount of work on a computer
  •        Ability to lift and transport up to 70 lbs. 

Education & Experience

  •        Two-year technical degree in engineering or related field preferred, or combination of training and work experience
  •        2 or more years of experience in technical service, field service, repair or customer service/support required
  •        Strong electrical and computer systems experience and high level of diagnostic skills 
  •        2 or more years Previous experience with robotics, lasers, automation systems or mechatronics required.
  •        2 or more years Previous experience with additive manufacturing recommended 
  •        Experience with TRUMPF equipment preferred, but not required. 
  •        Previous experience with hand tools and measurement tools required
  •        Must have strong problem-solving and excellent organization skills
  •        Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  •        Software: Microsoft Office; Word; Outlook; Excel and PowerPoint
