Your role

Become a part of an exciting machine concept. The TruLaser Center 7030 is TRUMPF´s most advanced laser cutting system and provides a one stop solution for autonomous cutting, sorting and stacking of sheet metal parts. The field service technician is responsible for a thorough understanding of the TruLaser Center from assembly line to installation, including maintenance and production support at customer sites throughout America. The service team is based in our Smart Factory Chicago. Welcome to the next generation!

Principle Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Provide exceptional customer service while working on the most advanced laser machine tool.
  2. Install, diagnose, and repair machines at customer facilities in a professional yet expedited manner.
  3. Work within a team environment at customer sites in America.
  4. Produce timely, detailed, and well-written service mission reports.
  5. Conduct quality measures and retrofits as needed.
  6. Inventory and maintain all service tools provided. Keep all mobile applications updated.
  7. Work with state-of-the-art software tools for diagnosis and analysis.
  8. Assist in training colleagues and/or customers on the machine and its systems.
  9. Support creation and improvement of documentation and processes.
  10. Work as required with minimal supervision in compliance with all safety requirements.
  11. Work flexible hours and some weekends.
  12. Able to lift 70 pounds without aid.
  13. Able to travel worldwide for up to 6 months per year // 2 years.
  14. Adhere to company’s field service engineer policies and procedures.

Your profile

The ideal candidate is solution-oriented, analytical, and able to troubleshoot complex situations. Paying attention to detail while working on sophisticated laser cutting machines and associated automation equipment is daily routine. The candidate must be proficient both mechanically and electrically with 3+ years of experience in technical service on machines with solid state lasers. Must be well-mannered, able to work with all different types of customers and maintain a clean and valid driver’s license. Must be in possession of a valid passport allowing for worldwide travel up to 6 months for work and training. Good written and verbal communication skills are needed, inhouse service experience and a foreign language is helpful. An overview assignment package for moving, living, taxation and relocation will be provided for all successful candidates.
