SUMMARY

The Material Analysis Technician will work within the Process Development Team as part of the TRUMPF Photonics Research and Development department  and will be primarily responsible for carrying out mechanical preparation of bare and bonded semiconductor laser chips and bars for detailed microscopic and advanced analysis techniques.  They will also be responsible for carrying out the preliminary analysis and supporting the engineering team in further data gathering and presentation. Although assigned to the Process development team, the Technician will provide material analysis support for the entire R&D engineering team

Team work, high quality standards and excellent oral and written communication skills are essential. Candidate must be able to work proactively and independently.

Principle Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Carry out sample preparation for the analysis of laser diode bars both mounted and unmounted. This includes mounting, polishing and mechanical cross sectioning
  2. Carry out initial analysis of samples using optical microscope, recording images and measuring critical feature dimensions
  3. Assist engineering team to carry out analysis of prepared samples using advanced analysis techniques such as secondary electron microscopy , electron diffraction spectroscopy and electroluminescent.
  4. Assist in development of new analysis and preparation methodologies as required alongside engineering team
  5. Carry out some assembly processes to aid development of materials on projects as required.
  6. Consistently check for equipment problems, data quality and adherence to policies and procedures.
  7. Maintain an orderly and safe work area.
  8. Ability to apply independent thinking and to make non-routine decisions on his own.
  9. Clear communication of oral and written results.
  10. Ensure all documentation is complete and accurate.

Your profile

Experience

1-2 yr. of hands on lab based electronics material handling. Experience of failure analysis and working in clean room environment a plus. Working knowledge of PowerPoint and  Excel required.

Education

AS in Electrical Engineering / Electronics required.
